Growing up in a small town in Texas inspired my fascination with vast space and the power it holds. The land stretches as far as the eye can see and then meets the sky without being obstructed by a physical object. Awareness of the size of the world is something that has both comforted and disturbed me and I am interested in the tension between the two. I find inspiration in the context an object can give to space and curious about the emotional qualities held in vastness. Inhabiting a space so grand forces us to understand the intimate connections we share within community. While the physical space stretches far and wide, it is something that, regardless of individual differences, brings us together in a profound way. We are united under the sky and the stars as they are something we will share indefinitely. I believe we have the ability to better understand our shared identity and our interconnected nature when we look to the vastness as a being with inexhaustible awareness.
